A few years ago I looked at various Nile Cruises and booked myself to go on one, it was a great way to see Egypt in all its glory, meet its people, landscapes, monuments and wildlife.
Cairo is seen as the gateway to Egypt, the sand on the streets serve as a reminder of the surrounding desert. The city full of tradition, customs and friendly people.
My view of the pyramids (Cheops, Khafre and Menkaure) was something I’ll never forget. The large and imposing Sphinx completes the mythical image of the old and former Egypt. After seeing the pyramids I would suggest a visit to the Citadel of Saladin, the home of the Alabaster Mosque and the famous Egyptian Museum.
After flying from Cairo to Luxor, we embarked on our cruise on the Nile stopping at various points including the temple of Luxor and then the grand temple of Karnak. Both of these Egyptian temples convey the feeling of size, wealth, space and the greatness of their conception. The following day we travelled further on our Nile Cruise and visited Necropolis with its more than 60 monumental tombs. The tomb is known as the Valley of the Kings.
Further on the Nile Cruise we travelled to Esna which continues on to Edfu. It is here where you learn about the close relationship between the Nile and Egypt, it marks every moment in Egypt’s history. The Nile Cruises take you to the temple Edfu, where people of all Egypt came to worship Horus, the god symbolised by the wings of a hawk. We then went on to Kom Ombo, visible itself from the Nile. This temple was dedicated to Sobek the God of crocodiles and Horus. If you get the chance to go on one of these Nile Cruises I would certainly recommend it. At the end of the Nile Cruise we flew to Cairo and back again to the UK – the views and memories I have from this Nile Cruise will stay long in my memory.

My parents and 50th wedding anniversary is coming up and I wanted to get them something special. My dad has been a construction worker all his life and did his best to provide a good life for us. My mother is a stay-at-home mom as long as I can remember. She helped with all our school projects, bandaged our knees, and helped us grow up to be good people. This year my siblings and I wanted to show our appreciation for all they had done for us. My dad always in a big fisherman and loves smoked salmon. Every Sunday during the summers he would make a salmon for dinner. My mother on the other hand loves gourmet cheese and chocolate gifts. She always made sure that we had a treat drawer to satisfy our sweet cravings. I’m very blessed to be part of the family that I am. The best place to find what you were going to get our parents with online. Finally the day of the anniversary came; we invited guests into the house to give the presents. Our parents were so surprised by the gift we got them. Immediately they opened and shared it with all of us. It was a night we’ll all remember.

Is there anything more exciting than a new baby? Well, I just found out I am going to be a Grandma for the first time!!! I still have quite a ways to wait but I am looking forward to that birthday like you wouldn’t believe. I am also excited about the shopping that will be going on for the next several months!
Right now I am looking out for clothes for my daughter since she will be showing soon. But what I’m really excited about is the baby nursery. There are so many colors, patterns, styles! I’m so glad I have time to see them all! My daughter has great taste and a terrific sense of style so I know the nursery furniture will be beautiful. So, the obvious place to start is the nursery crib. With all of the recalls and concerns, it’s going to be very important to find a crib with safety and function. Luckily, there are darling non-dropside cribs available. And we can choose a crib now since cribs are gender neutral – it’s the bedding that makes it girly or boy style. Then after the crib is chosen, we can start coordinating the dresser, changing table and rocker. I can’t wait!!

I just saw the most beautiful entryway and dining room! My best friend just remodeled the front of her house and combined an entry that flows into the dining room. The whole look of her house changed because she went from country to modern. It is gorgeous! And according to my friend, it was all very do-able with modern design. She took out her rustic furniture and threw away the old floral and check fabrics and replaced them with rich wooden pieces that were sleek but not sterile like some contemporary looks can be.
Besides the furniture, it’s the Modern Lighting that creates the feel in the space. She has these awesome Modern Wall Sconces flanking the entry that coordinate perfectly with Modern Pendant Lights that hang over the new dining table. They look good together without being to matchy-matchy. Honestly, the lightening functions almost like art pieces. The clean lines and simplicity of Modern Lighting add so much to a room. She chose a neutral wall color so the colorful lighting makes the furnishings pop. She tiled over the formerly brick fireplace and removed the mantle. Then she put this really cool modern floor lamp next to the fireplace and that was it. No embellishments are needed with modern decor. I love how simple changes led to such a huge makeover. I think it’s my turn to go modern now!

Recently my brother purchased some software from a company to help him manage his contacts, database, project workflow, and customer management system. He begin researching about six months ago and was stuck with how many choices he had. He talked with a bunch of his friends asking which software they use for their companies. He got good feedback but he was still stuck with too many options. Since his company is a graphic design company he needs something I can talk to Mac and PC computers. His whole accounting department only uses PCs but his designers only use Macs. He was stuck between a hard place and a rock. From his research or all he could find was that he would have to purchase two different pieces of software since they had to have a version for Macs and one for PCs. What he needed was a solution that would work for both. He looked into FileMaker and FileMaker Pro. His vice president of technology and new this problem and had his engineers start looking into solutions for the company. One of his engineers found a FileMaker Developer that created the software that works on both platforms and would be a perfect solution for their company. I highly recommend if you’re looking for software don’t buy the first when you see, make sure research it out.
